ARTIST STATEMENT

​

In the time and culture we live in, everything is fragile. Everything is subjected to the ongoing turmoil of trends, productivity, profit and death. Exploring an object and a material’s functionality I aim to highlight the unseen history of the material. Using disregarded objects and exploiting a range of lengthy processes within my artwork I uncover public and personal memory, often aiming to elevate the humble qualities of everyday ‘stuff’ to create instances of neglected beauty.

BIOGRAPHY 

Kathryn Davison (born South Yorkshire 1992) is an artist based in Sheffield, UK. Currently she is completing her BA (Hons) at Sheffield Hallam University (2011-ongoing).Recent group exhibitions include 'DooDah'(March 2013) and the SHU 'Solo Show' (December 2012)..
